| A lifelong artist, I've drawn since I can remember, from the moment I could hold a pencil. Majoring in art in college, I earned my Bachelor Of Fine Arts degree in commercial art in 1980, but after working for over 20 years in various branches of the industry, I found the work to be unfulfilling and stressful. In 2004, on a whim, I decided to try painting in my spare time to get back in touch with my more creative side (I had never painted before), and took up oils. I couldn't decide what subjects I wanted to depict, then a friend who owns Greyhounds asked me if I could paint pet portraits, and... Art By Billie was officially launched in 2006. In 2008 I added acrylics to my choices of painting mediums. I also work in graphite, and pen and ink, as I have all of my life. Most of my art centers around animals, as I have owned and loved various pets since I was a small child. I look forward to creating a portrait of your loved pet that you will cherish forever; I feel that our pets are members of our family and deserve to be honored as such. I currently live in Raleigh, North Carolina, with my husband, our 3 dogs, and 3 cats. |
